A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Sunday's BBQ with mom and dad turned out real nice.  They brought way too much food so we had to send them home with leftovers.  And as always they were way too generous with the gifts.  Mom had bought me clothes, jewelry, some things for the house and garden, etc.  She also bought the cat climber on our registry for the cats.  Yes, they are family too.  Scott gave me Season 1-3 of CSI:Criminal Intent, which I'm up to disk four on already.  Grandmom Lawson sent over her and Granddad's gifts which consisted of some Clinique goodies, cash, candles and two things I'd never seen before.  A duck key chain that lights and quacks when you squeeze it, and an elephant ring holder, go figure.

Monday I picked up Mussie from her home (Dad's mom) and took her to meet Peaseblossom.  She did at least stay put on the couch for her.  We then took her to eat lunch and then to the bookstore.  Brief visit, but nice.

I started priming the upstairs bathroom last night.  I need to go put the first paint coat on now so that can dry some.  I need to run some errands today and I wanted to stop by mom and dad's to use their pool.  That might get cut short though Correction, this did get cut out, since Michelle got back to me about visiting tomorrow and Scott's mom wants to come by tonight with her mother to wish me a Happy 25th.  I'll see what I can fit in today.  I should be able to finish the bathroom by tonight and go to Target at least.  The other things will have to wait until we get back from NY.

Yesterday Scott and I went to his father's house for a bit to say hello since his birthday was on Friday.  The drive up was beautiful since we took all the scenic back roads.  We spent some time at Jerry's animal hospital helping to set-up his new screen and monitoring system.  Actually Scott set it up and I went and played with the hospital cat Garth.

We then met up with Jerry's wife Vicky, and the four of us went to Bay City Restaurant in PA.  We tried to sit outside but alas no room there.  Good thing I had a cover-up in Scott's car.  Dinner was tasty if not very fattening.

Afterward we all ventured up the street to see the final Pirates movie, "At Worlds End".  Well who knows if it will really be the final, you can never tell with these things.  I know it got a lot of mixed reviews but I will go see anything that Johnny Depp is in.  I do think I like this one better then the second one.  There are still parts in it that dissatisfy me and I think they never found their way back to the simpler charm of the first one.  But eh, what else do they do with franchises but then to find ways to make them larger and more expensive?

Today mom and dad are coming over to celebrate my birthday.  We're going to do a simple BBQ out back.  I do need to hurry up and go shower so I can get this house clean before they get here.  Wish me luck!

Just because they are so darn cute!

Last night's dinner was really good.  We went to that restaurant called Lebanese Taverna, which moved into the new buildings down by Aliceanna in the Inner Harbor.  The food was great, the service was good and so was the company.  It was myself, Scott, Shaun, Jen and Josh.  Here are some not so flattering pictures of everyone.

(Of course their's turned out cute)

Later we met up with Michelle M. (whom Josh has been married to for 8 months now!), Sarah P., her boyfriend...Nick I think, and some people Michelle met.  I'm not sure if they were Argentinian but she met them around the boat from Argentina that's in the Harbor right now, the ARA Libertad.  She speaks pretty fluent Spanish so it wasn't hard for her.  You see Michelle has a tendency to randomly introduce herself to people and wander about.  She's such a carefree and innocent spirit sometimes.

We didn't stay down by the water too long since it was getting late and cold.  Plus we walked for an hour in total that night.  Instead of walking back to Shaun's everyone decided to Parkour their way back.  I guess I can say parkoured? parkouring?  Whatever, it's this new thing that they are enthralled with where "the aim of which is to move from point A to point B as efficiently and quickly as possible, using principally the abilities of the human body".  Right now they look like a bunch of kiddies hopping off benches and swinging around poles, but eh if it floats your boat.  Just don't crack your head because I won't clean it up, I'd be the one who'd stand there and say I told you so.

We're having a night out, and man do I need it!  Leaving work yesterday I was talking with some of the girls about the issues we are all having with work: Low pay, staff being less of a priority then the campaign, lack of resources, etc.  The things we have all been on our manager about for a year now.  Well I think our Marketing Director was right when she said we just need to hang in there.  Yesterday I learned that the day I took Oberon to the vet some things came up about this at the staff meeting.  Also it seems some Board Members are now concerned about some unrelated issues, but they all tie into the idea of poor communication and lack of attention.  Hmmm...is there a light at the end of the tunnel, who knows?  I have my "touch base" tomorrow so that is just going to regurgitate the issues everyone already touched on.

Last night after Scott and I got back from the gym we found Oberon had gotten sick, again.  It was mostly hair which could be from him cleaning himself since he's had poo butt.  Julia said her vet told her once that cats taking care of themselves is a good sign though.  I still think he is getting better.

So as one can see going out time is much needed.  Tonight Scott and I will be joining Jen and Shaun downtown for some Lebanese food.  We will be meeting at Shaun's pretty late, so that may be all we do, but it will be good none the less.  I think Jen put it best when she said finding time to talk and catch up is the main interest.  I'm looking forward to it because I think it will help as a recharge.

MeMe Update:  So if anyone is wondering what to get me for my birthday (May 29th), not that anyone has to (it's on May 29th bty), or know someone who still needs an idea, I did a selfish indulge meme post.  Did I mention it is on May 29th?
