I kid you not, our water heater is leaking at this very moment. I've at least stopped the seven seas from visiting my basement at this point. I tell you I am damn lucky that we keep our vacuum cleaner in the same utility room as the water heater. I was cleaning today and I never would have known it was leaking until it was too late and made water trails onto the carpet.
No, I did catch that part in time. Turned off the water and gas line to the appliance, used 8 towels to soak up the run off and I am now draining all extra water from the tank in several pots. The sucky thing is I have had to stop all the laundry which was mid cycle (which blows now having more laundry coming with all these towels), postpone my shower, and now sit by on pot changing duty as the water level reaches full.
We have a home plan with BG&E, I am just waiting on the man in the area to get out of the job he is on now. If we are lucky he can fix it. I have no clue if that heater is as old as the house though. It may be toast. This in turn can ruin plans to go to little Mina's birthday weekend. Because if we need a new heater we have to get it sooner rather then later. I don't know about you but having warm water to function is necessary for us.
Welcome to an other joy of being a home owner...
update: The verdict is in. Oh yeah, totally needed to buy a new water heater.
